This is really important, IMHO. Before answering to people in forums I
do a re-read with this frame of mind: would I treat this person like
this if it were a colleague with whom I were discussing face to face?
And, for fact checking, would I dare to make a presentation to a room
full of knowledgeable people making these assertions and standing by them?
The level of discussion in many internet communities is appallingly low.
I'm a culprit too, sometimes, but I've found that the above helps me
into making better contributions.
