John, What modes are you talking about. As I mentioned, Amtor and Pactor are dead as far as sound cards go.
Have you actually used either of the two ARQ sound card modes? These include PSKmail for Linux and SCAMP for MS-Windows XP? I don't have a Linux box set up here but it is a future possibility as I have played with Linux off and on for a number of years and it is getting remarkably better. SCAMP was only available for a short time for beta testing. The programmer put a self destruct mechanism in the software so it can no longer be used until he comes up with a newer version. He has promised to eventually GPL it if he can improve the program so that it can work under weak signal conditions to his satisfaction. Under good signal conditions it greatly outperforms Pactor 2, although it is a wider bandwidth mode. And, yes, it definitely runs on a sound card. 73, Rick, KV9U John Becker wrote: >At 10:05 PM 9/14/2006, you wrote: > > >>John, >> >>Not only is this not dead ... it is only the begining.
