My computer builder now has hardware in hand (with OmniOS installed) and one of the issues he is encountering is that keyboard access over IPMI goes away. He also reports that sometimes USB keyboard access goes away when he uses a cheap KVM but direct USB keyboard works fine.
An unexpected issue is that the Supermicro BIOS does not see the two Samsung SM951 M.2 PCI-E drives which are installed (one in a motherboard slot, and the other via a PCI-E/M.2 adaptor card) so it is not able to boot from them (but the OmniOS installer saw them and installed fine). Supermicro said that they are working on a fix for this issue and might have a BIOS update within a week.
