I think you're being a bit pedantic here and I'm not sure it is necessary or
beneficial to the discussion. I'm not involved with the Locals committee but
this makes perfect sense to me. Martin is trying to replicate the experience
of a local chapter for people who do not necessarily live within geographic
  of one of our current local chapters.

He's trying to recreate the experience of what is involved with a LOPSA
chapter independent of the national organization. A virtual chapter makes
perfect sense to me.


This totally feels like the splitting of the mailing lists all over again!

I'm assuming that all those activities will be opt-in, in which case, what drawback could there be to be for all-LOPSA(1)? What advantage is gained from creating this "virtual" entity?


(1): some of us aren't in the "nation".
