None of which require LOPSA as an organization.

LOPSA has 660 paid members as of the most recent Membership report to
the board (15-Dec-2014). A far cry from 1,000 members.

That's *all* that LOPSA has had to offer for nigh on a decade. It has
not "led" in any practicable respect -- certainly no better than the
organization it forcibly attempted to divorce itself from.

I've personally given quite a lot to LOPSA, both in terms of time and
money.

Removes duplication of effort in the space, and positions the
profession behind the stronger brand and organization (USENIX), rather
than struggling along with the might've-been organization.

What *don't* they do? To go through the list which you provided:
- - Conferences
they do them better than LOPSA does
- - Organization and participation
I don't see that they are functionally inferior to LOPSA in any way,
as LOPSA the organization doesn't really do much in this respect itself
- - Regional chapters
There have been various "SAGE-affiliated" groups forever (BBLISA,
BayLISA)
- - Electronic forms of communication
USENIX provides mailing lists (admittedly quieter since LOPSA's list
became the focal point of traffic, but that could easily shift back
fairly quickly). An IRC channel is trivial to add, and they could do
it with little to no effort.
