The board is having trouble coming up with a proper definition, that's why
we're asking for help.
We have had a few members apply as students who are getting certificates from
corporations (Cisco, Microsoft) The board does not consider those people to be
students.

It seems oddly difficult to define it properly.

Is there some reason we're attempting to, or does this fall into the "fixing
what's not broken" category?

We don't want to say full time student because some of our members are part
time students and we don't want to exclude future part time students either.

We agreed ages ago to accept members 16 or over. This change would exclude
them.

That being said, I think as long as it is worded in such a way as to define
student as "full time student", in fine with it.

I think the intention of adding the student rate was that full time students
tend to not have incomes, but benefit greatly from membership in the community.

Hi everyone,

The board has been discussing the idea of updating our student policy so that
it is more specific about who qualifies. Please let me know what you guys
think. This shouldn't change the status of any current students but if it does,
please let me know. We don't want to lose any members due to the changes.

Student Member Policy:

In order to qualify for student membership you must be a student at an
accredited post secondary institution, including but not limited to: the
University of Manitoba, the University of Winnipeg, and Red River College.
Taking a certification course (for example Cisco, Microsoft) does not qualify
you for student membership.

If you feel your specific situation warrants student membership please bring it
up with the board. Student membership may be granted at the boards discretion.
