In fact, they did get complaints -- search these forums and you'll see them, as well as an active discussion of alternatives. And yes, a lot of people do still use combinations of SBC, IR remotes on SB classics, and web ui to control sync'ing. I see problems with both ways, but I agree that the 7.3.x ui is a step backwards.
