Oh, but "in the backgound" on an iPad 1 is really normal, that's not a crash. Apps get killed in the background by the OS if the OS needs their memory. And iPad 1 is _really_ short on RAM, that's also why there is no iOS 6 for it. It has as much Ram as an iPhone 3GS but needs to process 2.5 times the amount of graphics, Apps almost never survive the use of other Apps in the background on my iPad 1.
