Completely disagree, blue is a much nicer color than red or green and it
doesn't have to be bright at all just choose a low level LED and in a
theater blue is much sexier than red, green or yellow and much less
offensive to the eyes.  Besides what's the equipment doing in a Theater
in the first place, that's what racks and equipment rooms are for. :) 
If you have a blue LED that's too bright mark it up as much as you like
with a black sharpie (marker) and you're good to go.
