Mixed case improves the readability of text because of the distinctive
visual profiles offered by ascenders and descenders (as opposed to block
text). With code it has the added benefit of course that capitals can
distinguish words within compound identifiers.

The general received wisdom about text is that mixed case always
improves readability - is there any specific reason why code should be
different? I assume that the received wisdom is based on some research
but I don't know where or what.
