Hmm - if I am not mistaken (or drunk) what you allude to is called a
"standard", presumably the raison d'etre.

Nevertheless, standards, whether ipso facto, de facto or du jure are all
standards.  A single company who writes a standard has no more freedom
to manipulate that standard that the du jure standards from ISO, IEEE et
al, given they have to always act in the best interests of the users of
the standard. 

Summary:  let's accept submissions for their value, regardless of where
they arise from.
