Reading the server requirements necessary for the CCS to run,
along the growing list of problems and complaints reported by
those brave souls foolhardy enough to try to install it, I don't
know whether to laugh (at the absurdity of the installation
process) or cry (over the impossibility of finally getting a
useful client application.)

When I heard that Tucows was developing this program, I had high
hopes that we would finally get a simple, easy-to-use, easy-to-
install, and useful interface. When I spent two hours on the
phone with one of the developers who had solicited my input
regarding what the application should do, my hopes became even
higher.

Sadly, it now appears that the new code has even more ridiculous
server requirements and is even more difficult to install than the
old client code. Because of the lack of a demo version, it's
impossible to tell whether it's more useful or not. I'll never
know, because I'll never get it installed in a million years. At
least after pulling my hair out through or 2 or 3 installs of the
old client code, I know better than to even try.

Apparently, Tucows' programming staff assumes that all of their
resellers have large, full-time staffs of system engineers who
have nothing better to do than to spend days/weeks/months
rebuilding severs and installing all kinds of esoteric
applications to make function what really ought to be a quite
simple interface.

I will never believe that this level of complexity was necessary.
There are dozens of well-written programs with highly-complex
functionality that easily install on more "standard" platforms.
This could have been one of them. I was optimistic that, with the
release of new client code, Tucows would finally make it easy for
me to sell their products. It's very disappointing to discover
that my optimism was misplaced.
