I am just going through the process of defining the roadmap for the future
releases of the ccs.

Some things that come to mind as strong candidates (in no particular order)
are:
- built in payment gateway support for standalone mode (without Platypus),
for 2-3 providers: Verisign, authorize.net?
- support of .uk, .us (.de, .cn?) top level domains
- email, emaildefence
- dns
- digital certificates

Please weight in - what would you like to see first? Feel free to contact me
off list as well.

Thanks,

Subject: Re: [domains-gen] CCS - a missed opportunity (Platypus - where
next)

  Hi,

I agree with most the points Alan raised here.

With regards to PHP5 - I don't feel this should be a disadvantage to the
CCS project, maybe in the short-term the take-up mightn't be that if the
code was based upon PHP4, but it takes commercial entities like Tucows to
start using PHP5 to keep things progressing (providing they make use of the
new elements available in PHP5). PHP5 has it's benefits, especially for
those doing more OOP.

Platypus - maybe this isn't necessarily for this list, but now that Tucows
are pushing forward with integration between CCS and Platypus I'll mention
it here. Platypus is a very feature full application combined with Wombat
it's a good billing/ticket system. Major downfalls are the requirements to
have MSSQL - for it to be used in our environment and integrated into
existing systems it really needs the database backed to be MySQL. It also
simply lacks some of the features that a required for non-US users: For
example here in the UK, we must produce a VAT Invoice - these are raised in
Platypus, but Platypus will only email a statement and not a true Invoice.

So what's next? Where do you see CCS going and how do you see future
integrations progressing (i.e. Security Certs)?

  Regards,
  Lee.

hi ,
we run a couple hundred hosting clients on three servers all using
Cpanel or Plesk our most recent update of php is 4.3.10 everything is
working fine. I'm certinly not going to upgrade php and cause clients
problems. Maybe on a new server I'll try tucows php scripts but we must
be able to use our own MySQL for our own Billing system. Platapus is not
a solution for us as it does not use JPOS iso 8583 messages.
The Zend requirement is out of the question.
And then there's price Tucows Wholesale rate to us is almost 30% more
then Several other registers.

I am Product Manager in charge of CCS development, and it would help me to
understand what exactly are server requirements that look unreasonable.
Except for few customers having problem installing PHP, I did not get much
of the negative feedback, so I'd like to know how can we make it better.

I happen to think that installation process of CCS itself is extremely
    easy,
and it looks great and is very usable. So apparently problem are platform
requirements. If you can point out specifics, it may help me making it
easier for the next release.

Feel free to contact me off list.
