Hmm. The eurid registration policy document says this:

"In principle, renewal of a Domain Name is automatic.

The Registrant is entitled to cancel a Domain Name registration by
filing a request with its Registrar, who is the only person that may
file a cancellation request with the Registry."

Presumably the automatic cancellation is therefore a feature of the
Tucows system (to avoid unwanted renewals) rather than a feature of the
registry.

Is this documented anywhere on the Tucows/OpenSRS site? If so, I
certainly can't find it. Informing us of this 4 days after the one-year
anniversary of .eu registrations was probably not the best plan.

Is (or will there be) an automatic way to retrieve .eu domains from
quarantine, in the same way as .com etc domains can be retrieved from
redemption? And will this cost more than a regular renewal?
