Hi everyone,

I will try and address a few questions in one here:

* What Robert posted is correct. OpenSRS schedules a delete command ahead of
time, but cancels it if the name is renewed. If not, the name is deleted on
its expiry date and it moves to what the .eu registry calls 'quarantine'
(essentially a 40-day redemption period) immediately. The redemption fee is
$30; to redeem a name, please contact support.

* .EU names are available for one-year terms.

* The notice previously sent was to address expiration dates on renewed
names. When a name is renewed, OpenSRS displays updates expiration date per
when it was renewed.

* Based on feedback we are investigating ways to implement a grace period to
afford you more time to renew your names going forward. I will keep everyone
posted.

Hmm. The eurid registration policy document says this:

"In principle, renewal of a Domain Name is automatic.

The Registrant is entitled to cancel a Domain Name registration by filing a
request with its Registrar, who is the only person that may file a
cancellation request with the Registry."

Presumably the automatic cancellation is therefore a feature of the Tucows
system (to avoid unwanted renewals) rather than a feature of the registry.

Is this documented anywhere on the Tucows/OpenSRS site? If so, I certainly
can't find it. Informing us of this 4 days after the one-year anniversary of
.eu registrations was probably not the best plan.

Is (or will there be) an automatic way to retrieve .eu domains from
quarantine, in the same way as .com etc domains can be retrieved from
redemption? And will this cost more than a regular renewal?
