I would second that idea.

there is no mention (that I can find) of this policy in the RRC and it does 
seem to contradict the eurid policy.

also, this all occurred over a public holiday (assume it was in Canada 
too) - if we had pre-warning about your intentions regarding this, we could 
all have taken appropriate steps long before the weekend.
