There were almost none in the install actually, but quite a few in dripkg, but if you removed all the mentioned files and the installation script ran fine without complains then that's most likely not the problem. The GATOS ati.2 doesn't seem to be either since the driver has the same name and would be overwritten. In 4 hrs a new snapshot should appear (with DMA enabled too). Please try it again. If nothing changes, then we'll need to make some heavy debugging, as with the PowerPC ;-) You can start to give us the last lines of /var/log/messages, as I think that there should be a kernel oops in there.
