Over the years, the core linux team has changes from fanatical hobbyists to a coding production team with deadlines. A fair chunk of the team seem to be from redhat who has a finacial interest in linux.
Because of this the core of the linux team appear to be more concerned about getting the job done due to the fact that some big money is supporting and using linux. Although linux is FREE, its pholisiphy has changed from one of "Screw you Billy Goat, I'm not paying for your kids college" to "people are depending on us to get this right, no matter what". DRI is still quite young and alot of people still have the "Screw you Billy Goat" attitude, to them FREE means no cost of any kind, and the opotunuity to see "how" it was done without restrictions. Afterall, this is how we learn, through observation of others. What has confused me here is that DRI is having anoncvs issues, and instead of focusing on the problem, simply by looking for another host (even is someone pays for it, but then there is that free issue again), a flame war has started up and ya all sounding like a bunch of 2 year olds. Larry McVoy's suggestion may be a hot issue, but its certainly no reason for both sides to argue about it, all that was needed to be said was that DRI is looking for another CVS host as cvs suits the needs of the DRI team, and its compatable with the Xfree86 repository. ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Dri-devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dri-devel
