IGP solutions are going to suck at running MS Longhorn so people may not buy
them. People don't really notice the slow performance of IGP today since most
apps don't use 3D. But when their entire desktop depends on it most will pay
$35+ for a better external solution.

Part of the point is that Linux has always be useful on "yesterday's" hardware. Thanks to organizations like FreeGeek.org (they're in my local area), hardware that you and I call garbage is getting a new lease on life. It would be a shame to render that hardware useless (pun partially intended) when we don't have to. I'd rather have 90% functionality on 90% of the hardware than 100% functionality on 50% of the hardware.


I don't like to see stuff filled with toxic chemicals end up in a landfill if it doesn't need to. That's just my personal opinion, however...
