Ok, clearing the cache restored the functionality of the interface, and allows playing albums and files in a folder. The long list of Favorites that was under Favorites, though, is still gone. There's only one entry referring to "on squeezebox.com" but those aren't the ones. How can I get that long list of favorites back?
