Bitch all you want... I suppose folks haven't quite come to realize a lot 
of these "dead" 2400s are likely not dead, but with loose internals... 
Frankly, I think if you are half-awake, you could carefully disassemble 
and reassemble the beast, making sure all parts are firmly seated 
(without forcing them together), learning about static precautions and 
such.  After this, reinsert the battery, plug in, reset the powermanager, 
the PRAM and see what happens.  What do you have to lose but your fears 
of computers and your ignorance of their parts.
