I have the EtherMac LAN/Modem PC Card for my 2400c. The modem is 28.8
Kbaud, but the current version is 33 Kbaud
<http://www.farallon.com/products/ether/cards/lanmodem.html>. I have
had better luck with it than I had with a GlobalVillage Gold 28.8
Kbaud/ethernet card (I can echo the comments quoted). But it has not
been trouble-free.

1) The dongle is very fragile and easily misplaced. It costs $25 to
replace (which I have done twice in 2 years).

2) I have had lots of problems running Filesharing over the card.
Seemingly randomly filesharing slows down about 100-fold. I have been
attributing it to the card overheating, but it happened recently just
after turning on the Powerbook. I am not sure if this is a problem
with the card in general, with my individual card, with the
Powerbook, or with MacOS. Seemingly (though this seems crazy), I have
to reboot both the desktop and the the 2400c to get filesharing to
work again.

The modem part works great, and I get pretty good throughput on the
ethernet part (14-20 MBytes per second), except when it is not
working.
