        Almost all modem ports have 8 pins,and your modem was designed for
the early Performas.  Only a few others like the LC3 have the special modem
port with an extra pin.  The 580CD came with a 14.4 like that.
        There are modems which get power from the ADB port, and then the
keyboard cable plugs into the modem power plug.
