And I used to own a wonderful MG that I built with $400 and 4 wrecks...
ran great, looked fine, cheap to own, lotsa fun. But it had nothing
whatsoever to do with a normal person's needs for a car in any
category: sport, sedan or whatever. Very few of us have the time (I
was just out of the Peace Corps & put about 600 hours into it) or
skills (my brother raced) or tools (he had a great garage) to deal with
a project like that.

Likewise, a kit computer is of lots of interest to "hobbyists" and they
are the foundation of Apple. But I fail to see what it has to do with
product designs for a company that needs to sell millions of devices to
keep expanding its market share so that it can provide the most
mainstream solution possible???
