instance, someone who has a personal journal separate from their
fandom journal is likely to want much stricter privacy settings
on the personal journal.

Hi, I'm Tango. Excluding communities, I have 7 accounts:

Mine, my weight-loss journal (which given the WTF metric would not be needed on DQ), 2 story journals, My LJ Idol journal (also would not be needed given WTF), my test journal for LJ Support, and 1 RP journal.

And if I was doing the journal/fic journal/icon journal thing, I
would probably want different settings on those too. I mean, I
know there are people who lock their icon journals, but most
people don't.

In my opinion, FO settings, styles, comment settings, WTF, should be journal-specific settings. Though The account holder for the journals should have the option to make them all be the same. I could see that perhaps I trust one of two people to know all of my accounts, so they get trusted by the account. But most people would be trusted by individual journals.

Similarly, I could go to accountname.dw.org/watch and see all the journals being watched by all my journals (as could anyone who knew my account name), but going to journalname.dw.org/watch only shows those being watched by that journal.

I'd also prefer that unless I've chosen to display it, there's no way for a random user to determine that journalname1 and journalname2 are part of accountname.

This does bring up another question, though. When you get a paid
account, would it be for individual personas only, or would it apply
to an account (including all personas of that account)?

In my opinion, the benefits accrued from paying for DW should apply to all the journals under an account name with a few creative caveats: - Say a Paid account gets 120 userpics, those are shared amongst your journals for that account, as is your voice post and scrapbook space. Somewhere in the appropriate manage pages are a setting to indicate that only specific journals can display certain userpics, photos, etc. - A Free account is limited to some specific number of journals, A Paid account either has no limit or a higher limit, though purchasing extra journals is an option. - Voice Posts, Text Messages, etc are assigned to go to the designated primary journal only (or perhaps a specific designated journal for each), but the account holder can move them to another journal and they can be treated as a new post. Email posts should have a way to declare which journal they are going to ([EMAIL PROTECTED]).
