I assumed it was a Gmail thing, and one that email-sending sites have little control over... and that when it got better for LiveJournal, I thought that the Gmail folks had special-cased LiveJournal after seeing the volume of comment email from there and the volume of complaints about the behaviour. In which case, DW would be SOL since those hard-coded exceptions on Gmail's side wouldn't "kick in" for DW comment notifications. But if it's something in the email structure which helped things look good for LiveJournal and that bit will be inherited by Dreamwidth, then that sounds good for the future.
