So, not in reply to anyone particularly, but in an attempt at rounding
up some of what was said above, I have seen the following
requirements/use cases described wrt hierarchical tagging:

1. Styles/themes will allow tags to be grouped according to the
hierarchy. Eg. all "actor" tags grouped together.

2. People would be able to subscribe/follow/view a parent tag, and see
all sub-tags within it. Eg. if someone had parent tags "fandom",
"personal", and "work", with sub-tags like "fandom: sga", "fandom:
supernatural", etc, looking at their "fandom" tag would show me all of
those sub-tags, even if they weren't co-tagged with "fandom" itself.

3. It should be easy to create tags within the hierarchy at the time
of posting an entry. That is, when I first get interested in a fandom
I should be able to create a tag which is a sub-tag of "fandom" at the
time of posting, without needing to visit a separate tag management
page.

4. It should be possible to rename entire hierarchies, without having
to individually rename sub-tags.

5. It should be possible to move a sub-tag from one parent to another parent.

All this is irrespective of the actual implementation. What use cases
are missing here?

K.
