I can see a lot of reasons not to automatically hand out a code to everyone on a strict calendar, but I can't help but wonder if it wouldn't help the viral spread if everybody got one or two codes on joining. Maybe not in May, but starting in June, when the first rush has died down a little bit.
I'm getting a lot of ... well, I'm only going if everyone else in my social circle is moving ... and it feels like the easiest way to get whole social circles to move is if there's a cascade to migration for the whole group. ---zvi, who worries that too much of fandom is going to wait and see after they got burned by gj/ij/jf.
