AN is a prefix for Spain. The AN prefix is frequently used for a contest or special event callsign. DXB interpreted it correctly.
Actually the /ANT doesn't conform to normal designations as the operator should have used one of the normal prefixes such as KC4 (which is the DXBase and ARRL prefix for Antarctica) I would handle this by entering the call RW1AI/KC4 and using Notes to indicate the call he used and the fact that it was Antarctica. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "RM" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "'Charles Johnston'" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "'FireBrick'" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "'DXBase List'" <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, April 06, 2002 8:12 PM Subject: Question about Prefix designation > Hi to all: > > I just worked a Russian station in Antartica who said his callsign was RW1AI/ANT > So I entered what he said was his callsign into my QSO log in DXbase. > > DXbase logged the WPX as ANT0 and in the Summary window it says this station is in Spain. > > I looked in the Country database and can't seem to find the WPX ANT0. > > Can anyone explain what's going on here? > > Thanks, > > Tom, N0YD "Yankee Doodle" > > > __________________________________________________ > Do You Yahoo!? > Yahoo!
