It is not an effective way of producing wealth.  The slaves may produce
a large amount of wealth but they do so ineffectively.  The slave holder
does not produce it he just acquires it.  And he does not acquire it
either for free (he must do what is necessary to keep the slaves 
enslaved) or effectively (he must forego what he might have done as
an honest man).

The point is that LESS wealth is produced.  So much so that all
will be poorer including the slaveholder.
