There are times, Leah, when I suspect "paid by the hour" is bit too high on an
employee/contractor's list of "design criteria." I
never went beyond the suspicion stage because I was afraid if I looked I'd find
I was correct.
Then again, I started in an era when no one put the words "Programmer" and
"Professional" in the same sentence. (sadly, accurately
so).
Design Criteria for Computer Software:
1. Must Work Correctly.
2. Must Work relatively efficiently
3. Must Be Maintainable.
When trading off - as we all must - I'll willingly sacrifice a little speed or
disk/memory use (#2) for *either* of the other two.
