We had an apartment on the beach in Ostende, but it was autumn and very wet and dreary. Although when push comes to shove it's sometimes hard to tell the difference between August and November in that part of the country. It was an interesting experience and I loved the fries with mayo, which was very popular street food. Whenever I went to Holland I noticed that the dish was advertised as Vlaamischen Frites . pardon my Dutch. I know, I know . I heard all the Dutch jokes made by Flemish colleagues. But there are two things that I'm sure we can agree on: Belgian beer and chocolate!
