Thanks for the suggestion; while I'm not too confident that I'll be successful doing that (I don't have much luck when it comes to creating folders and files and extracting this and that and such) I may give it a try or two and see what happens.
Late last night (I couldn't stop until after midnight I was so determined) I actually managed a successful load of all the firmware---even the DVR and both dsps loaded! The bad news is after some time spent in the CONFIG menu resetting the various parameters as I had them before---I started getting the ERR DSE error message again on the K3. Now it always says "E 010C 0C ERR DSE" when I power it up. I'm going to disconnect everything except the DC power cable and the KUSB cable and try it all over again just in case it'll save me shipping it off to Aptos this week. What worries me is that it's not so much the USB connection but some kind of failure or glitch in the DSP board (just my hunch; nothing more).
