Phil, I don't own a KX3, but I've taken my FT-857D (once) and my FT-817ND multiple times (I don't travel with my K3). I never had any issues with TSA. They didn't even bat an eye about them, in fact. I just made sure I had my license taped to the rigs and ran them through with my laptop/iPod/other electronics.
