Absolutely! It's the best thing since sliced HTML. It does all the things you wish Safari would do, and isn't from Microsoft. It is constantly being improved, tweaked, securityized, and featureized. There are themes and extensions to do what ever you might imagine. No pop ups, automatically shows "phishing" linked pages, etc.
Firefox is an open source software, and thousands of folks are making contributions to its improvement with frequent updates. In short, it is the best web browser out there for the Mac, and arguably for Windows as well. If you try it, you won't switch back to whatever you are using. I'm surprised you haven't heard about it.
