Thank you so much Marc.
What is Mac Equasion and is it worth getting? Actually I never use ClarisWorks, AppleWorks or WordPerfect anymore since I now have OS 10.3.9 with my granddaughters G4 and all my files are either in Word or InDesign, Illustrator,Photoshop. I will write these folks and ask them why they still use Claris and why they don't want PDF files.

OK Doug,

'saving your graphics into Claris emailer' is impossible. As Claris
Emailer is text-based, no layout.

As for Claris Appleworks and WordPerfect Macintosh, I think you can
include some graphics as long as the necessary fonts exist. And for some
graphics by using Mac Equasion. I know someone who used that for
technical scientific reports many years ago.

As for copy/paste, it is indeed an unfeasible job to do all your lessons
with copy/paste.

As for PDF, it is indeed VERY strange that people would not accept PDF.
Could ask them WHY ?
- do they complain about the weight of the latter PDF formats which have
been filled with plenty of bullshit because Adobe wants to keep making
new versions thereby destroying their own standard.
(They took us from a world where people asked 'what format is your
document in?' and convert all of that to a PDF standard...
They took us TO a world in which people come together and discuss
'what PDF version and format is your document in?' With plenty of
phone-home and software downloads and consuming lots of computer power
just to startup the heavy Adobe packages.)

- dot they complain because they want a read/write copy of your lessons ?

That I dont understand.

Marc

Hi Marc-
I guess I did not make myself clear.
That little pic I sent contained graphic images made in Adobe
Illustrator with actual font letters, OOTW and OA arranged as you see
them and they mean Out Of This World and Over All view of things,
acronyms sort of.
We then inserted them into a Word document in lessons I created. But
the students in some areas want me to send them ClarisWorks or
AppleWorks or WordPerfect files instead of Word or PDF files. However
I cannot copy and past a lesson into any of these old apps and retain
the graphic or the format. Each lesson I have, consist of an average of
15 pages, 13 lessons, and so it would be far too time consuming for me
to try to copy and paste the lessons and then firnd a way to redraw and
insert the graphics into these old programs like ClarisWorks.
Why would anyone who is still using Claris or Apple Works not want a
PDf file is beyond me but I try to help them if I can. However I see
no way to save a Word doc in Claris or any other old app.

regards,
doug
