Hi Marc-
I guess I did not make myself clear.
That little pic I sent contained graphic images made in Adobe Illustrator with actual font letters, OOTW and OA arranged as you see them and they mean Out Of This World and Over All view of things, acronyms sort of. We then inserted them into a Word document in lessons I created. But the students in some areas want me to send them ClarisWorks or AppleWorks or WordPerfect files instead of Word or PDF files. However I cannot copy and past a lesson into any of these old apps and retain the graphic or the format. Each lesson I have, consist of an average of 15 pages, 13 lessons, and so it would be far too time consuming for me to try to copy and paste the lessons and then firnd a way to redraw and insert the graphics into these old programs like ClarisWorks. Why would anyone who is still using Claris or Apple Works not want a PDf file is beyond me but I try to help them if I can. However I see no way to save a Word doc in Claris or any other old app.

regards,
doug

Dear Doug,

1) As for how to put various documents in CE, the answer is: just send
them as an attachment, and dont try to use CE as a viewer, but let your
Mac launch the proper (old) app to view the file,

OR.. install an extension in your classic system folder so you can print
any of the old apps to PDF. (just ask) And then send PDF's via email.

2) The formulas you make are probably made by Mac Equasion or a similar
program.
I bet these exist also for Mac OS X, or maybe you do not need them.

I try to avoid the bigger WORD apps as I do not agree with how these apps require Gigahertz CPU's Gigabytes of RAM and create huge documents for a
"shall we go for dinner tonight?" simple memo.

3) And yes.. this list has value. I feel the same.

I don't know how complicated your web pages might be but it could be
worth taking a look at Sea Monkey Composer. I have only used it for

Dear friend-
I am not computer savvy enough to know what to do with all this and
even though it is not a CE issue I am very interested because of CE
and other Claris apps, etc. along with the fact this group is by far
the most helpful group I have in my experience.

I have OS 10.3.9 on a G4 and have many files on Word or PDF that I
need to share with students I have all over the world. However some
of these students want files in ClarisWorks or AppleWorks and some
want Word Perfect all of which are old apps. But I find I cannot copy
and paste my Word or InDesign docs into those old programs without a
lot of work reformatting. And most of my docs have line drawings
which often will not paste properly. For example I am attaching a
Grab tiff pic. of two phrases with graphics made from font letters
which will not show up in these other programs. Strange these students
do not want to use pdf files for some reason.

So I'm at a loss to know how to put a Word or ID file into Claris or
Apple Works.

regards,
doug
