I'll experiment today with different TOC styles and try to incorporate JT's
suggestions. Also I suppose that main format of HTML docs will be small pages
rather then Huge Docs. However both are possible.

That's possible, both TOC depth levels and per-chapter TOC's are available
via docbook-xsl flags [1]
