I think that the spare time problem is a common ailment.  Whatever the 
case, with more people doing nothing more than watching this thread, 
sooner or later a light bulb will go on and we'll have our solution.

Not a problem, the .gitignore stuff didn't take long to fix.  I wouldn't 
have even cared except that I hope that the more minimal the patch, the 
less distractions while others help with the current problem, and the 
more likely the fixed version will someday be accepted into master.  ;) 
  Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself.

This is Charles's nice work.  I agree we should add more, though the 
page title makes it look Debian-specific, where my goal is to package 
LinuxCNC for Fedora.  ;)  Most of it's not distro-specific anyway, since 
it describes building the software by hand.

Ooh yeah!  Let me know if I can help, and if you get it working, I'd 
like to try too if you can provide notes.  I'm trying many paths with 
gdb and valgrind, but only hitting walls so far.  The breakpoints don't 
seem to matter much:  I still hit those segfaults.
