Looking at Michael's rpi-rtperf.html it occurred to me where the 125 
usec scheduling issue comes from. Telephone rate audio processing takes 
place at 8000 samples per second. Disabling sound might get rid of this. 
(Possibly by removing all sound related stuff from the kernel.)
