Addendum to my book of Stupid Things I Have Done. Someone wanted a sample of a p/s model that we do not stock - gave him an (freebie) engineering unit that I previously used for cl 3 or 4 surge tests. After approx six (3kVac) hi-pots, the customer's unit failed "intermittently". The p/s y-caps would fail, then open up again.
So agree w/Nick's post - probably no effect to a p/s that did not have an abusive childhood. Associated Research (hipot manufacturer) recently did a webinar on this topic. They did some studies that basically showed that repeated hipot testing doesn't do much if anything. If you are interested here is a link to their website where you can view the recorded webinar: http://www.asresearch.com/events-training/webinar-archive.aspx.
