Hello Scott,

I was curious to know myself but I'm not sure I came up with the right answer.

The Terms & Definitions section of BS 1363-3 defines "intermediate adaptor" as
"a fused adaptor having one or more socket-outlets and provision for the
connection of a flexible cord to a remote control device in series with the
socket outlet."

So I recon it's an extension lead with a remote control facility.

I was curious to know if such products are manufactured and the following
Google UK image search does indeed indicate these are manufactured and readily
available.

www.google.co.uk/search?q=extension+lead+with+remote+control&um=1&tbm=isch

Or I could be completely wrong in my interpretation of "intermediate adaptor".
I think the standard could be clearer in its definition.

Hope this helps,
T

Subject: [PSES] Non-rewirable intermediate adaptors or adaptor plugs

Hi John, Do you have any idea what the actual products of non-rewirable
intermediate adaptors or adaptor plugs mentioned in sub-clause 15.2 of BS
1363-3 for mains adaptor are as compared to the 3-way adaptors used in normal
household? Thanks and regards, Scott -
