I connected a spare encoder to my MESA 5i20 & 7i33 board, counts fine,
worked first try...

I've been trying to get the actual lathe encoders to count and so far,
no luck. I get a velocity reading when I move the ballscrews by hand,
but the position readout doesn't change.

Is there a way to use hal meters or scope to show the state of my
encoder channel A, B, & Index? I tried setting the scope up to show
inputs 0 - 7 from the Mesa board but it didn't show anything. Would
this be because the inputs are configured for encoders and not Inputs?
Do I need to make an alternate configuration to see the individual
encoder channels as Inputs. Unfortunately I don't have things set up to
be easy to work on, I can't hold my meter leads on terminals and reach
the encoders to turn them.

Thanks!
