In the HostMot4 configuration (Which is what I assume you are using),
there is one 50 pin connector (24 I/O bits) dedicated to servo control 
(4 sets of PWM,DIR,ENA,A,B,IDX)

The other 2 connectors are simple I/O

If your lathe connectors are connected to the motion control connector, you 
cannot read the A,B,IDX signals from the I/O ports, however the A,B,IDX 
signals are readable from the Counter Control Register (Bits 0,1,2 = A,B,IDX) 
but I dont think the CCR is readable via the driver
