Hi Dave

Perhaps you missed my point.  All of the EMC was running on headless
linux boxes.  The Mac was the display point for the interfaces to these
boxes.  No need to build a custom kernel or a custom ethernet board.
Both the headless Linux/rtai/emc boxes and the Mac had ethernet ready to
do what the NML stuff requires.

With some of the "Modern" GUI interfaces this poses a problem because
they insist on direct to HAL communication.
