Hi I have recently built a 1500mm x 1500mm gantry style router. I am using EMC to run three FL86STH156-4208 11.96 Nm stepper motors, with 16mm x 4mm pitch trapezoidal screws. The gantry weighs some thing like 70kg. It works pretty well except the fastest movement I can achieve for x and y is around 15 mm per second before the steppers start complaining. I know the spigots on the end of the screws were not turned very concentrically, (I used a crappy lath)...could this be the reason for the lack of speed?
