Mine has a tachometer also. It looks like a stepper motor inside the tach. With the setup I described on my last message, the motor ran well and had a good sound. I just received a standard 2hp three phase motor today and tried it on the same setup. It also worked well, but I thought I should run it with the factory defaults, so I reset the VFD config. This same motor sounded like it had pebbles in the bearings this time. I set the torque boost to zero and lowered the Voltage/Frequency rate a bit, now it sounds much better. As you mentioned earlier, the motor voltage seems to have a big effect. -- Kirk Wallace http://www.wallacecompany.com/machine_shop/ http://www.wallacecompany.com/E45/index.html California, USA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Stay on top of everything new and different, both inside and around Java (TM) technology - register by April 22, and save $200 on the JavaOne (SM) conference, June 2-5, 2009, San Francisco. 300 plus technical and hands-on sessions.
