The Nokia 5300 is definitely supported in Linux. If you can't get
NetworkManager to recognize it, you can try this:

http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/peripherals-hardware/55310-using-nokia-modem-under-linux.html

Nowadays, these phone work nearly the same. What needs to be
changed, it this line:

OK 'AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet.saunalahti","0.0.0.0",0,0' \

This line needs to be customized for your provider, (T-Mobile) I
also found this portion of a chatscript that is supposed to work with
T-Mobile I'ts up to you to figure out which line you need.

# different operating modes, comment/uncomment:
# GPRS
#OK "AT_OPSYS=0,2"

# UMTS
#OK "AT_OPSYS=1,2"

# GPRS, UMTS
#OK "AT_OPSYS=2,2"

# UMTS,GPRS
OK "AT_OPSYS=3,2"
OK "AT+CGDCONT=1,\042IP\042,\042gprsinternet\042,\042\042,0,0"
SAY "\nWaiting 20 Seconds to switch between UMTS/GPRS ...\n"

If the above doesn't work, this was a quick google, not hard to find.
My laptop runs Fedora 10, and NetworkManager (0.7.0.xx) auto
configures my Options Wireless card on AT&T. In fedora 7, I had to
configure it manually, it's not hard, it just takes some research.
