There are a number of reasons why the Prusa is a better machine. According
to most people, the Prusa is superior in virtually every way to the original
Mendel (AKA Sells Mendel).

The Mendel is a nice machine, but it is quite complex and hard to calibrate.
Once you have it very well tuned, it can turn out prints that are great, but
probably 9 out of 10 people never get it quite right.

The Prusa is dead simple. With the exception of just one or two key steps
during the initial assembly, it is almost calibration free. The printed
bushings are a turn off for many people (And I was extremely dismissive of
them when I first heard about them), but they actually work quite well. If
you prefer, you can also build your Prusa to use inexpensive lm8uu linear
bearings or bronze or teflon bushings, but the actual gains are pretty
small.

This video compares the two bots, and after watching it I suspect you will
see why I recommend the Prusa. ;-)
