I'll second Dave's mention of the IRC.  I had a tough problem setting up 
dual steppers on my X axis on my gantry machine, and the guys on the IRC 
had me up and running in less than 1/2 an hour.  Thanks again to all who 
helped out getting me going when I hadn't a clue where to begin looking.
